Joyful Bayview Wildwood Wedding in Muskoka | Shelby + Joe
Shelby and Joe’s Bayview Wildwood wedding in Muskoka was one of those days that just felt like summer joy from start to finish. If you're currently on the hunt for wedding photographers in Ontario, especially up here in Muskoka—this one’s for you.
The vibe of the whole day? Chill, unhurried, and so full of loving energy. Guests were floating between the pool and beach in the morning, soaking in the sunshine, no stress, just good energy. As a Muskoka documentary wedding photographer, I live for this kind of atmosphere, people relaxed and emotionally present. These are the days that give you the best candid wedding photos in Muskoka—the ones you can't pose for, the ones that feel like the lived memory.
Their ceremony was outdoors, golden light pouring in, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more dreamy. And because Shelby and Joe are legends, they had tequila shots lined up right after the “I do’s” to kick things off. They didn’t rush into portraits. They took their time, hugged everyone, soaked it all in. These are the moments I love to photograph most—the in-between, unplanned, heart-filled seconds. Grandma chugging a Bud Light? Iconic. This is exactly what unposed wedding pictures are all about.
Once they’d had that space to breathe and be with their people, we jumped in a golf cart to sneak away for some quiet portraits. Just the two of them, some wildflowers, and a whole lot of love. No stiff poses. Just connection. These two were so natural with each other, capturing their story was effortless. If you're searching for wedding photographers in Muskoka, and you're into that documentary, low-pressure style, I’d love to connect!
And then, (probably one of the most unforgettable moments of my entire photography career) they surprised everyone by going up in a seaplane!! And guess what? I got to go with them!! We did some portraits by the docked plane first (SO good), and then we were up in the sky, flying over the lakes. It felt surreal and so adventurous to be able to document them experiencing that on their wedding day!
Their entrance back? Next-level. They landed the plane on the water and walked right into their first dance on the dock. I felt like I was documenting a movie scene when this happened!
Later that night, the reception at Bayview Wildwood resort Echo West room was full of belly laughs, tearful speeches, and the kind of energy that only happens when everyone’s fully invested in the celebration. This is what storytelling wedding photography in Ontario can look like —capturing the soul of the day, not just the schedule.
The party was WILD in the most fun, unhinged, joyfully chaotic way. People were dancing like no one was watching, singing like they were in a karaoke bar, and being their full selves. They wrapped the night with margaritas and a mountain order of McDonald's as a late night snack for them and their guests, because yum!
Shelby and Joe’s wedding was joyful, grounded, and real. The kind of day you don’t want to end. I’m so grateful I got to be the one to document it.
