Castell de Barxell Wedding | A Romantic Spanish Countryside Celebration with Zuzanna + Raul

Castell de Barxell Wedding | A Romantic Spanish Countryside Celebration with Zuzanna + Raul – Zuzanna and Raul walking through a shower of pink rose petals.

Photographing Zuzanna + Raul’s Castell de Barxell wedding in Spain was a dream come true!

From the warm Spanish light to the textured stone walls and surrounding nature, every turn offered a new, beautiful scene. Their day felt deeply intentional, relaxed, and full of heart, a true reflection of what a Spanish countryside wedding can feel like when it’s rooted in connection, culture, and joy.

A Relaxed Start to a Destination Wedding in Spain

The beginning of the day unfolded slowly and beautifully, exactly how a destination wedding in Spain should feel.

Zuzanna and Raul spent the morning surrounded by their closest family and friends, getting ready together and soaking in the time before everything began. They shared their first look at L’Alqueria del Pilar, the place where they stayed the night before with their loved ones, which made the moment feel even more intimate and grounded.

One of the most fun parts of the day? Renting a vintage car to drive them to their ceremony at Castell de Barxell. We captured some incredible drone shots as they made their way through the countryside - a cinematic, joy-filled transition that perfectly set the tone for what was to come.

Arriving at Castell de Barxell: A Dream Castle Wedding in Spain

As we arrived at Castell de Barxell, my jaw genuinely dropped.

The stone walking pathway leading up to the ceremony, which was lined with trees and bathed in soft Spanish light, felt like something out of a movie. It was one of those moments where the venue itself becomes part of the story. This is exactly why couples dream of a castle wedding in Spain. The history, the setting, the atmosphere all work together effortlessly.

As guests took their seats, there was an excited energy in the air! The ceremony that followed was filled with emotion and depth, made even more special by a beautiful Spanish tradition: the best man and maid of honour giving their speeches during the ceremony itself. This added such a heartfelt layer to the moment and truly deepened the emotional experience! I LOVE when couples opt for this!

A Joyful Ceremony + Rose Petal Exit

The ceremony was moving, intimate, and full of feeling. As soon as Zuzanna and Raul were officially married, their guests were perfectly organized for a rose petal toss, cheering them on as they ran out together, ecstatic, married, and glowing.

It was one of those just-married moments that feels electric, spontaneous, and full of life, and the kind photographers dream of.

Spanish Sun, Cocktails, and Culture

Cocktail hour unfolded under the warm Spanish sun with such beautiful energy. Drinks flowed, food was incredible, music filled the air, and everyone felt completely at ease. This is one of the reasons a Spanish countryside wedding is so special. It invites people to slow down and truly enjoy being together.

As Zuzanna and Raul entered the reception, they honoured both of their backgrounds by weaving in Polish and Spanish wedding traditions. Zuzanna is Polish and Raul is Spanish, and I loved how seamlessly the two cultures were blended. It felt intentional, joyful, and deeply personal.

Then came the surprise.

Their family and friends surprised them with a live band β€” trumpets, tubas, and infectious energy that instantly elevated the celebration. The reception turned into something wild, joyful, and beautifully unrestrained. There was free-spirited dancing, laughter, and movement as the sun dipped lower in the sky.

Dancing in the golden sunset light at a Castell de Barxell wedding felt like a dream come true to photograph.

Sunset Portraits and a Celebration That Took on a Life of Its Own

Sunset portraits were pure magic!!!

We couldn’t have asked for a better sunset. Soft, glowing, and cinematic against the historic backdrop of Castell de Barxell. These moments felt quiet and sacred, a pause in the day just for them.

Why a Castell de Barxell Wedding Is So Special

A wedding at Castell de Barxell offers something truly unique:

  • Historic stone architecture

  • Spanish countryside views

  • Warm, natural light

  • Space to move, celebrate, and be fully present

It’s an incredible option for couples dreaming of a destination wedding in Spain that feels romantic, relaxed, and deeply meaningful.

My heart is so full knowing I got to document Zuzanna and Raul’s day. It will forever live on in my memory, and I’m endlessly grateful I was there to photograph it.

With love + excitement,
Sara
